Biography

Alan Skiena became associated with Serling Rooks Hunter McKoy Worob & Averill LLP in 2012 and specializes in music and entertainment industry practice. In his over thirty years of experience, Mr. Skiena’s clients have included Grammy Award-winning recording artists, producers and songwriters as well as prominent record companies, production companies, music publishers and personal managers. He has extensive experience in the negotiation of recording agreements, intellectual property licensing and exploitation agreements, branding and sponsorship agreements, copyright acquisition agreements and employment agreements.

Mr. Skiena was admitted to the New York Bar in 1982. He received his undergraduate degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and his Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has shared his insights as a guest lecturer at numerous seminars and conventions, including the Winter Music Conference, the Learning Annex in New York City and the CMJ Music Marathon. During consultations with clients, Mr. Skiena consistently combines a sophisticated knowledge of the law and the workings of the entertainment industry with the practical realities faced by clients grappling with the challenges of today’s music and entertainment industries – all with the intention of assisting clients to achieve business and personal goals.
