Biography

Michael L. McKoy received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1992 and in 1996 graduated from New York Law School. Prior to joining Serling Rooks & Ferrara in 1997, he held roles at independent and major labels, handling a broad range of entertainment law matters. Currently Mr. McKoy is a partner at the firm and has an extensive roster of international clients. He advises and represents current multi-platinum RIAA certified groups, Grammy award-winning artists, classic independent bands, contemporary labels and singers / songwriters.

With over 20 years of extensive experience in complex transactions and hands-on knowledge of all areas of entertainment law, Mr. McKoy derives a sense of fulfillment from positively affecting both young and established communities within the music industry. “It’s our job to get young artists thinking about the future,” he says. “One of the most rewarding parts of advising artists is helping them answer the question, How is this matter at hand going to affect my life?” Mr. McKoy’s dedication to cultivating authentic relationships with clients and his creative input help ensure the firm’s reputation as one of the most respected in entertainment law.
